Auckland Casio Mathex is a high speed Maths problem solving competition run by the Auckland Mathematics Association. In teams of four, our students competed against more than 120 teams at each year level from across Auckland. The aim: to solve 20 questions before anyone else. On Thursday, we took 4 teams to compete in this high speed maths contest. Our year 7 teams represented us with pride, scoring 95 and 75 out of 100.
Our year 8 students really stepped up to the challenge – the team of Max Bojovic, Rihoko Suzuki, Lucy Brunton and James Xu scored 100 points in around 15 minutes – an amazing accomplishment! This fantastic result gained them first place across Auckland – the first time this trophy has come over the bridge since the competition began. Congratulations on an outstanding performance for all involved.
