At the end of last term, Northcross hosted the annual Student Leader Conference. Schools from far and wide came to join us and we were pleased to host Taradale, Ilminster and Taupō Intermediates on the Shore. On the first day, we displayed our NX Technology program by having a rotation of activities including, an NX Masterchef, archery, music, art and problem solving competitions. This was a great opportunity to get to know the students from other schools and show some leadership throughout the day. Afterwards, we had some friendly cross-school competition playing “The All Blacks Game” and “Castles”. Following that, Mr Jensen, Mr. Rickards and a crew of helpers had spent all day preparing a delicious hangi for dinner. Huge thanks to these guys for all their wonderful efforts in supporting this event! We rounded off the first night with an inspirational talk from former All Black and Sevens representative, Eric Rush, who talked about his journey as a person and a leader.
On the second day, we went to Woodhill for a day of Tree Adventures and Ultimate Frisbee. Although Tree Adventures was very challenging for some people, everyone did extremely well. Ultimate Frisbee was a new game for everyone, and an exciting one at that! These two days provided a great opportunity for the NX Student Leaders to get to know each other as well as leaders from different schools. We also learnt about our strengths and weaknesses as leaders and how to work effectively as a team. Although at times it may have been difficult, everyone rose to the challenge and had fun!
We would like to thank Mr. Tredray, Mrs Sloane, all the Technology Staff and other staff members who supported and contributed to such a wonderful experience for us. We really appreciate it!
