The Northcross Intermediate Boys Football team have completed an incredible back to back finals win at the NZ Aims Boys Football Tournament in Tauranga last week, defending their title as NZ Champions. Our talented football team took on Remuera Intermediate in the AIMS football final winning 1-0 in a tense but largely one sided game. The NZ Aims games saw 10000 Year 7 and Year 8 students compete in a range of sports with the football title hotly contested by 60 schools from around New Zealand. The NX boys played exceptional football throughout the week, scroring 40 goals on their journey to the final. The Year 8 members of this team are also North Harbour and Auckland Intermediate school champions for 2017. Their coaches Jack Caunter and Nathan Cranney along with Manager Murray Toohill are extremely proud of the team and their outstanding achievements.
There is even more to this winning story as both coaches, Jack and Nathan, won the AIMS Football tournament as Northcross Students back in 2006 and just over a week ago Jack was part of the Onehunga Sports Football team which won the Chatham Cup Final against Central United on penalty shootouts. The Northcross boys amazing result rounded off a week to remember for all their supporters.
