Dancesport Information
General Info
Dancesport is an opportunity for students to learn ballroom and Latin dancing. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced dancers.
Students will learn four routines: Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rhythm Foxtrot, and Jive. These routines are traditionally partnered dances, therefore students will be expected to practise and perform with a partner. Students will rotate dance partners frequently until the most suitable combinations are identified and assigned by the coach and manager.
If you’re already registered with the NZBDC or NZRDI, or both, please make contact with Miss Grant prior to signing up. She will advise if your registration at this stage is required.

Dancesport is a 15-week commitment. All students who register will attend two lessons a week for all of Term 3 and the first five weeks of Term 4. These lessons are in preparation for the inter-schools dancesport competition held in mid-November. This competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their well-rehearsed routines, as well as view performances from professional dancers. Students will compete in one of three grades depending on their level of experience: Recreational (Beginners), Studio, or Registered.
Practice times & venue
Students must be available to attend both practises each week.
No clashes with current sporting, cultural, or academic activities please.
Practice time:
Thursday mornings, 7.30am – 8.30am.
Friday afternoons, 3.15pm – 4.15pm.

All practices are at school, venue to be advised
Fees
Girls and Boys: $175 per student / per year.
A non-refundable $65 deposit will be required at time of registration.
Remaining fees will be due Monday 23 September, Week 10 of Term 3.
Additional costs for attending the inter-schools competition will be called for at the time.
