June 2024 once again brought the excitement of Mathex to Northcross Intermediate! Our school teams had been practising for weeks, refining their strategies and training their runners. The whole place was buzzing with anticipation as Mr Toohill welcomed all teams into the gym. On Tuesday 18th the Northcross Year 7 competition was held with the first four places going to teams from Rata and Kauri. The winning team was from Room 55: Robert Chen, Keddy Gong, Dylan Sun, and Zachary Bailey.
On Wednesday we held the North Shore Primary competition in our school gymnasium followed by our very own NX Year 8 competition. The top four Year 8 winning teams were from Rata team and the winning team was from Room 54: Jonathan Xu, Daniel Fang, Jessie Dong, and Jack Howitt.
Thursday 20th was a huge day as we hosted the North Shore Mathex for all intermediates. All our teams represented the school in an exceptional manner. The Year 7 teams all achieved 100% and all finished in the top 12 places. The Year 8 teams all finished in the top 20 teams. We managed to win first place, achieving 100% in an astounding 11 minutes. This top scoring team was from Room 54: Jonathan Xu, Daniel Fang, Jessie Dong, and Jack Howitt. (Banner picture above).
Many thanks to Miss England and Mrs Frankland who had put in many hours of work preparing for this and ensuring that everything ran seamlessly. Another successful year of Mathex at Northcross and we are now looking forward to our top two teams in Year 7 and 8 competing in the Casio Auckland championships in Term 3
