Kia ora Parents and Whanau
As the year comes to an end we would again very much like to acknowledge our community for their continued support throughout the year. I have just viewed the 2021 Year Book. Thank you to Mr Murray Toohill and his team for compiling this very visual account of 2021. Looking through the pages it is hard to believe we have been in the grips of a pandemic, much of the content reflects on the very positive aspects of student engagement while physically attending school, times we should not forget.
I would like to thank those families who’s time with us is drawing to an end. After having had 2, 3, or 4 children through our Intermediate, who are now moving into the secondary system. Thank you for your ongoing support and selecting Northcross as the school of choice.
All the best to our year 8 students who will be transitioning through to their respective secondary schools in the New Year. We certainly hope you enjoyed your time with us and feel prepared for your next learning phase. As mentioned in my last correspondence, the year 8 students of 2021, certainly displayed great resilience proving they are adaptable and prepared to face any future challenges. Congratulations and all the best for your next ventures.
A special thank you to our Student Executive and Leadership Team for their contribution to our school throughout the year. From the student organisation of our school ANZAC ceremony through to Life Skills programme promoted during lock down our Student Leaders were engaged and self-motivated.
A special thank you to Head Girl, Zoe Oram and Head Boy, Jayden Whitehead /Deputy Head Girl and Boy, Katy Rutledge and Harry Short for their wonderful leadership of the team.
We have just completed selection of Head and Deputy Girl and Boy for 2022. This process involved group and individual interviews over the last weeks, it was certainly a pleasure working and getting to know the whole team. Congratulations to Sienna Maurice and Mathew Fitness who will be next year’s Head Girl and Head Boy. They will be supported by Deputy Head Girl and Boy, Tessa Jenkins and Koby Stanaway. Again congratulations to all involved.
To our year 7 students, we are certainly are excited about working with you next year, hoping the Covid Traffic light System will allow more continuity and capacity to learn onsite. I know you will welcoming and supportive of our the new students
In finishing I would like to thank and acknowledge our staff for their ability to adapt to two very different teaching paradigms; teaching and learning onsite to virtual learning from home. In both scenarios, the wellbeing and quality learning programmes were always at the fore. We thank you for your outstanding efforts.
Please enjoy a safe and relaxing break, waiting in anticipation for 2022!
