Northcross recently hosted its annual Mathex competition – the largest number of students ever to compete, with 87 teams from across the school. The top 4 teams from each year level went on to represent Northcross at the North Shore Mathex the following day, where 344 students in 86 teams raced to be named North Shore champions.
Our Northcross team of Yaoyu Xie, Isabelle Wenham, Marwan Samy and Isaac Kirkpatrick won the year 8 competition in a closely fought battle, dueling with Murrays Bay throughout the whole 30 minutes. The talented Northcross team were first to 100 points , followed by Murrays Bay and Wairau. Our second, third and fourth teams attained 85, 80 and 70 points respectively.
The year 7 competition was just as hotly contested with the top 3 teams all attaining 100 points. MBIS just beating Northcross by seconds to take out first place. Our top two Northcross teams came second and third. Both teams attaining 100 points. Our third team attained 80 points and our 4th team scored 60.
Congratulations to all of the students from Northcross who entered into these events. You showed determination and perseverance.
