Preparing for Alert Level 3

Kia ora Whānau

I would first like to start by thanking all our families for the way in which you have been coping with the current Alert Level 4 restrictions. I trust that the online learning has been going well, I have certainly heard some great reports from the teaching staff. With our current Covid19 cases in Auckland dropping, we need to start planning what Alert Level 3 will look like at Northcross Intermediate School.

Families will continue to engage in online learning with their classroom teacher/s, and the Specialist team, as has happened during Alert Level 4. The students at school will complete the same online activities as set out by their classroom teacher/s. This will ensure coherence and consistency in learning between home and school regardless of attendance, and will assist with teacher workload, relationships and connections.

The hours that the school is open during Alert Level 3 will not be the same as normal. School will be open from 9:00am to 3:00pm for students of essential workers only. Once we have accurate numbers of the students who will be attending school during Alert Level 3, we will be able to update you with the procedures that we will be putting in place for dropping off students in the morning, and afternoon pick-ups.

Some reminders about Alert Level 3:

  • Please keep your children at home if you aren't an essential worker.
  • School will be a place for students whose parents/caregivers are essential workers and cannot arrange other arrangements for child care.
  • At Alert Level 3, you legally must stay within your household bubble unless for essential personal movement including going to work and going to school.
  • Schools are essentially closed at Alert Level 3 with the exception of those children whose parents and carers have to go to work during this level of lockdown and there is no appropriate caregiver or extended bubble member to look after their child/ren.
  • Children should learn at home if possible.
  • Children at school during alert level three will continue to do their learning via online distance learning.
  • Children of essential workers who are attending school  will be in bubbles of 10 or less with two staff members.
  • Areas at school used during level 3 will be deep cleaned at the end of each day.

Please complete the form for each of your children as this will help me prepare our school for Alert Level 3.
