Our Enrolment Process
Enrolment Dates
We offer two enrolment periods per school term:
- Start of Term: New students must enrol to start on the first day of each term.
- Week 4 and Week 7: We also provide an enrolment opportunity twice throughout the term.
Why do we have this enrolment program?
- Consistency for Teachers: This program allows teachers to plan and adjust their teaching strategies based on a more stable class program.
- Individualised Support: Interviews with new students and their families help us understand their unique needs and ensure a smooth transition.
- Effective Placement: By enrolling students at specific times, we can better place them in classes that align with their academic level and learning style.

Out-of-zone students
Out-of-zone enrolments are now closed for 2025
Out of Zone enrolments closed on Wednesday 4 September 2024
The board has determined that 20 Year 7 places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students next year. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required it will be held on Wednesday 11 September 2024. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three - five school days of the ballot being held.
BALLOT PRIORITIES
- Students accepted for enrolment in a special programme (this does not apply to Northcross Intermediate School).
- Will be given to applicants who are siblings of current 2024 Year 7 and Year 8 students.
- Will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
- Will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
- Will be given to applicants who are children of board employees.
What happens next
After the ballot has been complete (usually in early September) all in-zone students and successful out-of-zone students are sent "Next Steps" part of our enrolment process with a link to a Google form where they share information about their child.
In week 2 of Term 4 we will be conducting enrolment interviews. No bookings necessary.
Before the end of the school year, generally mid December families are sent an email with their students class for the next year, how to book an interview for the start of the year as well as stationery and uniform information.
We begin each year at Northcross with a 10-minute interview. The interview takes place between you, your child and the classroom teacher.
