Three of our talented orators recently represented Northcross at the Rehu Tai APPA North Shore Speech Festival at Northcote Intermediate. Asher (Traditional Speech), Rada (Spoken Word) and Vivienne (Flash Talk) all spoke with confidence and skill. The standard was exceptionally high and there were some outstanding speeches from all the intermediate schools across the North Shore. We are thrilled to report that Asher and Vivienne won their categories and were invited to represent the North Shore at the Auckland Finals on Wednesday 25 September. Northcross won two of the four categories in the competition, which was a fantastic achievement. This week Vivienne competed in the Flash Talk category at the Rehu Tai APPA Auckland Final at Remuera Intermediate. She was one of the top six students in Auckland for this category and represented our school with great skill and pride. Congratulations, Vivienne- we are so proud of you.
We were also pleased to recently host the annual Rotary Preliminary Speech Competition here at our school. 18 students from across the North Shore battled it out for the top 6 spots and we would like to congratulate Asher and Conrad for representing our school so capably. Conrad was selected to go through to the North Shore Rotary Speech Final at Pupuke Golf Club this past week with his speech on ‘The Importance of History’. He wowed and amused the audience and judges with his speech and came runner up in this prestigious competition. Congratulations, Conrad!
